Roman Missal III
On Aug. 21, 2010, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops announced the implementation of the new texts for the Mass - Roman Missal - Third Edition, which would be implemented beginning with Advent 2011. Of course no one likes changes and so several workshops have been sponsored throughout the Diocese to prepare parish leaders at all levels to explain the revisions, answer questions and invite all Catholics to a deeper reflection and more intentional participation in the Eucharist. While most Catholics will notice very few changes, the new missal will includes prayers for saints who were recently canonized, additional prefaces for Eucharistic prayers, additional Votive Masses and Masses and prayers for various needs and intentions, and some updated as well as revised instructions for the celebration of the Mass. Bishop Edward U. Kmiec is confident that “The end result will be a richer, truer liturgical experience for all.”
